Apostolic Mentoring
The Decision for Destiny! / La décision du destin! ... English & French
The bowl of soup that cost Esau his destiny stands as one of scripture's most profound warnings about momentary decisions with eternal consequences. Brother Ivey masterfully unpacks this ancient story with urgent relevance for today's believers who face similar temptations to trade their spiritual inheritance for temporary satisfaction.
When we receive the Holy Ghost, we're engrafted into the Abrahamic covenant—gaining access to all the promises of blessing, protection, and provision that God originally gave to Abraham. "Anywhere we put our feet, that land is our land," Brother Ivy declares with apostolic authority. Yet many believers fail to fully possess what's rightfully theirs because they haven't activated these covenant promises through faith.
The stark contrast between Jacob and Esau serves as both warning and wake-up call. Esau, returning exhausted from the field, made what seemed like a small compromise in a moment of weakness. That single decision—trading his birthright for immediate gratification—literally rewrote biblical history. Where Jesus should have mentioned "Abraham, Isaac, and Esau" in the kingdom lineage, He instead said "Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." Esau's name was erased from this spiritual heritage over one bowl of soup.
Today's "bowls of soup" look different but prove equally devastating: offense, fleshly desires, worldly compromise, or simply growing weary in well-doing. Brother Ivey's message rings with prophetic clarity: "The devil does not have the authority to take away your God-given birthright. His only chance at stopping the blessing that God has placed upon your life is if you give it to him willingly."
This powerful teaching calls us back to spiritual fundamentals—consistent prayer, regular fasting, daily Scripture reading, and faithful church attendance. These aren't just religious activities but the practical guardrails that protect our spiritual inheritance. As Brother Robinette emphasizes, "There's no secret. Nothing's mystical in the kingdom of God. Just get back to the basics."
Listen now and reclaim the fullness of your spiritual birthright before another moment passes. Don't sell your divine destiny for any bowl of soup the enemy might offer!
We love to hear from our listeners! Thank you!

God, multiply that work, god Bless them, set before them open doors that no man can shut. In the name of the Lord, hallelujah, in the name of Jesus, oh, I plead the blood of Jesus. Let your word break forth today, pierce the darkness, divide it asunder.

Speaker 1:I greet you in the mighty name of Jesus, from Columbus Ohio you in the mighty name of Jesus, from Columbus Ohio. What a joy it is to be home and to be back in my own house for apostolic mentoring. But oh, what a wonderful weekend or Sunday that it was in Detroit, michigan. I give honor to Bishop and Sister Guerrero, pastor and Sister Dunning, our dear friends. Oh, my goodness, that work in Detroit is exploding with revival. No seats in the building, completely packed out.
Speaker 2:We had at least 14 get the Holy Ghost on Sunday morning had at least 14 get the Holy Ghost on Sunday morning and I think there was like five that were getting baptized. Maybe more?
Speaker 1:I don't know.
Speaker 2:Brother Dunning is nodding his head, so I'll say that's confirmation.
Speaker 1:But oh my goodness, what an incredibly apostolic church.
Speaker 2:And they're building a new sanctuary which they're going to be in for Easter. I believe they're going to be able to have 450 people in the sanctuary in just a few weeks.
Speaker 1:And it won't surprise me at all if they pack the sanctuary out on Easter Sunday with a max attendance of 450, with people standing waiting to get in.
Speaker 2:Je ne serais pas surpris d'entendre qu'ils vont remplir le bâtiment, les 450 chaises remplies pour la Pâques.
Speaker 1:Their worship team was so anointed, there was such a flow of the Spirit and it was just an honor, just a great honor, to be with our dear friends once again. Le groupe d'adoration était vraiment loin et c'était un Thursday, friday and Saturday I got to be in Washington for the Summit Conference With Bishop Mayo, who is the leader of that meeting. The meeting's been going for 23 years.
Speaker 2:Bishop Mayo has been the leader of this conference for 23 years.
Speaker 1:And oh, my goodness, what a powerful apostolic conference that was.
Speaker 2:What a powerful apostolic conference that was.
Speaker 1:So many great apostolic voices in that meeting.
Speaker 2:So many great apostolic voices in that meeting.
Speaker 1:Bishop Wade Bass was there. Bishop Nathaniel Wilson was there ministering as well. Brother Matt Tuttle was there. There was Brother Mark Dross that was present as well, ministering and just flowing in the spirit. You guys know how I feel about the partnership of faith.
Speaker 2:We are living in the last days and it was just a joy to be in a meeting where everybody came together with such a unified spirit and a unified purpose.
Speaker 1:And I put a link to every one of these services at the summit in the information section of Facebook, and it will be on YouTube as well.
Speaker 2:I want to put the link for these conferences on YouTube and Facebook. I'm going to challenge everyone to listen to these four messages. I put my feet in the infirmary so you should listen to mine because I was poking the bear. But I preached about the necessity of unity and getting over ourselves. You need to go listen to that message because every one of us need to hear it in this hour. But I want to tell you how much I love Bishop and Sister Mayo.
Speaker 1:These are some apostolic, very apostolic people who we will have on apostolic mentoring very soon in the future, but you need to get connected with their sites. I put that in the chat as well, but I just love God's kingdom and God's kingdom people.
Speaker 2:But I just love God's kingdom and God's kingdom people.
Speaker 1:Which brings me no, not yet, not yet. I do want to tell you something.
Speaker 2:If you're not connected to us on Instagram or Facebook, you need to get connected immediately, because it could be by the end of this day.
Speaker 1:pay attention to Instagram and Facebook, because our new book, the Partnership of Faith, might just drop on Amazon today. So pay attention, get connected and be ready. It's coming and it's going to be a great game changer for the kingdom of God. So many prophetic words and revelations in this new book and I know it will bless the kingdom of God globally. We are so very excited to have Brother Ivy as our guest on Apostolic Mentoring today.
Speaker 2:I love this man of God. I'm so happy to have Brother Ivy with us as our guest tonight.
Speaker 1:I love this man of God. This is a great man of God.
Speaker 2:I had the privilege of meeting him in Mongolia in September of last year. Give or take a penny.
Speaker 1:I hadn't known him before that, but the Lord put in my spirit to have him serve as my armor bearer during that time in Mongolia, among many other things I mean he preached the gospel, multitudes were added to the kingdom. I mean, god used him in a mighty way but he also served as my armor bearer. But in that time that he served as my armor bearer he made me unsatisfied with any other armor bearer ever again. I'm telling you, you don't know a man until a man serves as your armor bearer. This guy is so humble, such a pure heart and such a servant to the kingdom of God. He is the ALJC Youth President for Ohio. Just a great man of God in so many other regards. But we are so blessed to have him here with us today on apostolic mentoring, equipping millions to reach billions. Brother ivy, I love you, brother, I respect you, esteem you so highly in the lord. Please take your liberty and do whatever god says your liberty and do whatever God says.
Speaker 3:Well, thank you so much, Reverend Robinette, and to everyone that's on this call.
Speaker 2:And we'll look back and watch this session of Apostolic Mentoring. I am truly delighted and honored to be here with all of you and I just want to say how thankful I am for the God appointment of me meeting Brother Robinette.
Speaker 3:To those of you on this call if you've never attended a Global Harvest Crusade, I want to encourage you to do so. As he said, in Mongolia last year in September, we were at a crusade together where my life was changed forever. The empowerment that we received, the faith that was built in our spirits, has truly changed the trajectory of all of our lives. Who were there in Mongolia and man, I want to encourage you to make yourself available for the global harvest that God is wanting to pour out.
Speaker 2:Amen.
Speaker 3:I want to turn to Matthew, chapter 1, verses 1 and 2. Today I have just a very basic thought, but it is a burden from the Lord. The Bible reads the book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren.
Speaker 2:The Bible says Amen. Isaac, Isaac, Jacob, Jacob, Judah and his brothers, Amen. When you and I received the gift of the Holy Ghost, we were engrafted into the Abrahamic covenant, and that means that all the promises that God gave to Abraham they now belong to you and I.
Speaker 3:Promises of blessing, promises of protection and provision, promises that declare, anywhere we put our feet, that land is our land. I feel a witness of the Holy Ghost that in this last day we need to believe and possess the Abrahamic covenant. It declares that we have victory. This covenant declares that we have prosperity and unless you activate it, you won't own it. I learned that from a great man in Mongolia. But God declared to Abraham that his seed would be innumerable like the sands of the seashore. God declared great promises to Abraham and now those promises are in our possession. 1 Peter 2.9. We know this famous scripture. We love this famous scripture. It declares that we're a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and a peculiar people. And if you skip down, it says which, in time past, were not a people but are now the people of God but are now the people of God.
Speaker 3:That's the adoption that engrafted us into this covenant, which had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. I'm here to declare to you, believers, today, that you need to grab a hold and possess this covenant that, anywhere you put your feet, god said it's yours. Your city belongs to you because it belongs to God, your harvest field belongs to you because it belongs to God.
Speaker 3:If you believe that, say amen. When Abraham's grandsons, Esau and Jacob, were being born, the Bible describes how Esau breached first, but Jacob grabbed a hold of his heel. This foreshadowed the struggle for the birthright that would ensue. The birthright was so important Because the firstborn would receive the double portion of the inheritance. This meant if there were three sons, the inheritance would be divided into four parts and the firstborn would receive two or 50% and the other sons 25%. The birthright was important. It granted family leadership roles.
Speaker 3:After the father's death, it carried spiritual blessing and the continuation of God's promises and blessings to the family. I want us to take that context and plug it into this passage of Scripture. In Genesis 25, verse 29, the Bible tells us the story of Abraham's grandsons, Jacob and Esau.
Speaker 2:The Bible tells us about Abraham's grandsons. Esau came from the field and he was faint.
Speaker 3:And Esau said to Jacob Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage, for I am faint. Therefore, his name was called Edom and Jacob said Sell me this day, thy birthright. And Esau said Behold, I am at the point to die, and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said Swear to me this day.
Speaker 2:And he swore unto him and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Genesis, chapter 25, starting from verse 29.
Speaker 3:As Jacob cooked a pot.
Speaker 2:Esau came back from the field tired and tired. Genesis, chapter 25, starting from verse 29.
Speaker 3:Jacob saw the weakness in his brother Esau. He was faint from the field. We have to be careful that we do not grow weary in well-doing while we are working in the field, there's an adversary grabbing at our heels it's the deceiver that tries to convince a child of God to trade his Abrahamic covenant and blessing for a bowl of soup. In a moment of appetite, Esau said feed me, Give me something to appease my flesh, oh God, he said sell me the birthright Jacob.
Speaker 3:He said sell me the birthright Jacob. He said sell me the birthright.
Speaker 2:Sell me the birthright.
Speaker 3:Jacob took advantage of Esau's weakness.
Speaker 2:Jacob took advantage of.
Speaker 3:Esau's weakness.
Speaker 2:He saw the weakness and the weariness from the field. And he said give me the birth certificate that says you're the firstborn grandson of Abraham. He said give me your double portion.
Speaker 3:Give me the leadership.
Speaker 2:Give me the spiritual blessing. And in a momentary lapse of judgment, he gave up his destiny and authority with God for a bowl of soup.
Speaker 3:I know it's a simple thought. I know there are great men and women of God on this call, but we are all human and can grow weary at times in the field. But we have to wake up. In this last hour we have to understand that our adversary is nipping at our heels. Whether you've served God 10 years or 50 years, he will always try to get your birthright.
Speaker 2:He will always try to get your birthright. I feel it in the Holy Ghost right now.
Speaker 3:That we just need to stop for a moment.
Speaker 2:And pray and take possession of our birthright again.
Speaker 3:Would you take yourself off of mute, would you lift your voice and would you pray right now, in the name of Jesus Christ. In the name of the Lord Jesus, thank you. That soup may have fed him for a moment but it left him empty for a lifetime.
Speaker 3:Esau became a should have been in an egregious trade. He gave up divine destiny for a moment of appetite, for a moment of fleshly appetite. Maybe it's an offense today that the enemy is trying to get you to grab a hold of. Oh, I said, maybe it's an offense today that he's trying to get you to sell your birthright over. But we've got to let the Holy Ghost check us in this last day.
Speaker 2:We've got to let the Holy Ghost check us in this last day and we've got to make up a determination in our mind.
Speaker 3:We've got to make a decision for destiny Because, listen, the devil does not have the authority to take away your God-given birthright have the authority to take away your God-given birthright. His only chance at stopping the blessing that God has placed upon your life is if you give it to him willingly.
Speaker 2:Oh, don't give it away today. Don't sell your birthright today. Don't sell your anointing Don't sell your authority with God. Today, esau traded a legacy for a bowl of soup.
Speaker 3:The point I wanted to make here today is that the Bible practically had to be rewritten because of his one decision. He was the firstborn, he was supposed to be in the lineage of Christ, but in Matthew, chapter 8, verse 11.
Speaker 2:Jesus is speaking. God, manifest in the flesh, is speaking.
Speaker 3:And he said I say unto you that many shall come from the east and the west and shall sit down with Abraham, isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
Speaker 2:Je vous déclare que plusieurs viendront de l'Orient et de l'Occident et seront à table avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob dans le royaume des cieux.
Speaker 3:It should have read Abraham Isaac and Esau.
Speaker 2:Abraham Isaac and Esau, but Esau forfeited his place in history. And where Jesus should have said his name. Where God manifests in the flesh, should have said his name.
Speaker 3:He said Jacob, it wasn't a huge fall.
Speaker 2:It wasn't a climactic moment.
Speaker 3:It was one small moment in history where he made one consequential decision, and that decision erased his name from history. I believe in the mercy of God, I believe in the grace of God, but I don't want to leave it up to chance. I don't want my name to be missing from the pages of history over a bowl of soup. The famous apostle Peter says in Acts 3 and 13 the God of Abraham, isaac and Jacob. It was supposed to be Esau, but he's traded it for appetite. I'm here to tell somebody today that God has placed great destiny in you. The things that he wants to do in you are beyond your wildest imaginations. The ways that he wants to use you are beyond what you could ever dream.
Speaker 2:The ways that he wants to use you are beyond your wildest imaginations.
Speaker 3:But your adversary is at your heels today and you must make it up in your mind right here, right now I will not sell my birthright. That city is yours, that harvest field is yours.
Speaker 2:That harvest field is yours, don't?
Speaker 3:sell your birthright. Matthew 16 and 26 declares For what is a man profited if he gained the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Speaker 2:Et que servirait-il à un homme de gagner tout le monde s'il perdait son âme? Ou que donnerait un homme en échange de son âme?
Speaker 3:If I've noticed anything in my 28 years of living for God.
Speaker 2:Si j'ai remarqué quoi que ce soit dans mes 28 ans de vie avec le Seigneur, anything in my 28 years of living for God.
Speaker 3:I've never seen a man profit anywhere close to the entire world, but I've watched great anointings fall to bowls of soup. I've seen destiny traded for just a moment of pleasure. I've seen exponential anointing, great anointing, fail to offense. It's the bowl of soup today. Galatians 2 and 20 in my last scripture says I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live yet. Not I, but Christ liveth in me and the life which I now live in the flesh. I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.
Speaker 2:I was crucified with Christ, and if I live, it is not me who lives, it is Christ who lives in me. If I live now in the flesh, I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and who delivered himself for me.
Speaker 3:I want to die to my appetite today. I want to die to my flesh today so that I can live in that spiritual authority that God gave me.
Speaker 2:Amen amen.
Speaker 3:I want one more time for all of us to pray and to receive this word. I want us to grab a hold of our Abrahamic blessing and covenant. I want us to realize how blessed we are to be engrafted in and let's, together, as a body, make up our mind here today that we will not sell our birthright.
Speaker 2:Amen.
Speaker 3:Can we pray together one more time, father, we worship you right now, god we give you the great praise right now, god. We surrender our hearts to you right now, lord, I pray that a conviction would settle into our spirits right here, right now, on this call Thank God that destiny is in the call of God, in the power of God, in the authority of God.
Speaker 2:That you have destiny for us, Lord.
Speaker 3:Let us grab hold of it.
Speaker 1:Let us do it, O God. Let us not trade it for temporary things.
Speaker 3:Let us not trade it for temporary things. Let us not trade it for questions.
Speaker 1:God, let our blessings our. Abrahamic blessings come in it, god, let it be our desire to make a revelation. Let every listener Lord, every heart, every person present on this call. Thank you, god.
Speaker 3:I want my name in his name.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, hallelujah, oh hallelujah. Praise the name of the Lord. What a powerful apostolic and revelatory word that we've received here today on Apostolic Mentoring that we've received here today on Apostolic Mentoring. Well, Brother Ivy was ministering.
Speaker 2:The Lord dropped two scriptures into my spirit. The first is in 2 Chronicles, 7 and 14. Obviously a very familiar passage of scripture to anybody on apostolic mentoring.
Speaker 1:But I want to read it nevertheless Said if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land. The second scripture the lord dropped in my spirit, right here at the end, was Romans, chapter 12, another very familiar passage of scripture. Probably everybody on apostolic mentoring can quote this, but the Lord told me to read it anyhow. It said I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Speaker 1:And be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Speaker 2:Ne vous conformez pas au siècle présent, mais soyez transformés par le renouvellement de l'intelligence afin que vous discerniez quelle est la volonté de Dieu, ce qui est bon, agréable et parfait.
Speaker 1:And here we are living in the last days.
Speaker 2:Voici, nous vivons dans les derniers jours.
Speaker 1:God is trying desperately to hand us the kingdom in all the fullness of its power, and we don't have any time left to watch great anointings fall for a bowl of soup a bowl of soup.
Speaker 2:We can't afford to lose anyone in this late of an hour.
Speaker 1:The key to sustained apostolic growth, personally and organizationally and institutionally and globally, is just doing what we know to do. How's your prayer life?
Speaker 2:How's your fasting going?
Speaker 1:Are you in the word of God every day? Are you getting up in the morning speaking in other tongues and going to bed speaking in other tongues? Are you stirring up the gift that is inside of you? Are you being faithful in the small things, because there's no doubt God wants to make you ruler over great things? There's no secret. Nothing's mystical in the kingdom of God. Just get back to the basics. You won't fall short in these last days if you're doing what you know to do pray fast, read your bible, be faithful to the house of God activate exercise.
Speaker 2:Pray fast, read your Bible. Be faithful to the house of God. Activate exercise the kingdom gifting that's inside of you, not just on Sunday, but every single day.
Speaker 1:Don't let your anointing fall by the wayside for one moment in this world. Just say no to the world and yes to the kingdom. What a great and timely word by brother Ivy today deeply, deeply loved.
Speaker 2:What a great and timely word by Brother Ivy today. Deeply, deeply love and appreciate this man of.
